My Cute little teeth
About a month ago I went to have a friendly check up with my dentist. Seeing as I hadn’t had my teeth cleaned in something over two years I decided it was a good decision. Little did I know I would regret it. I started to notice something was up when the little tsk noises she was making became steadily louder as she moved from tooth to tooth. I started to get nervous when she called her assistant over and they both started peering very curiously into my now very exposed mouth. Then when she pulled out the tools I got worried. The verdict: I had eight cavities, one of which was a root canal…Needless to say I was very distraught over the news and even though I’m not one to cry over things which crying will not help, I almost burst into tears thinking about how much this would cost.
But that was all a month ago. Since then I’ve had my root canal done and now my tooth has gold in it as well as porcelain in it. Yes I feel very expensive. But then something happened that the ring did not intend, as the dentist, her name by the way is Dr. Compos, was finishing putting the cap on my tooth she noticed that I had another cavity. One she didn’t see before because it was under my gum. A direct result she told me due to braces. Giving me another reason to hate my old orthodontist, his name I will leave out to protect the “innocent”. The Solution: Oral Surgery…
So I went through with the surgery, and it wasn’t as traumatic as I thought it would be. I brought my iPod and just listened to music and closed my eyes the whole time. Usually I leave my eyes open while they’re working on my teeth but when I saw her pull out this instrument that should have only been used to cut trees down rather than to go into my delicate and very fragile mouth I decided I didn’t want to see what all else would be hacking away at my gums. It was kind of unnerving though to feel her drilling and sawing away at my mouth and yet feel no pain. What was the most unnerving though was to feel all the vibrations, as though she were using a nail file to grind me sensitive gums to a bloody pulp. Vibrations that normally should of had me screaming and beating Dr. Compos...ah... But it’s all over now. And most of the “trauma” was all in my mind. I mean I didn’t actually feel any pain when she put the electric chain saw thingi into my mouth in order to hack away at my now bloody flesh. Honest, I didn't feel a thing.
And that brings us up to the present. Now I’m what is known as undergoing the “healing” process. I have to wait another six weeks before I can have a now gaping hole on my tooth filled. All this money and emotional anxiety due to the fact that I didn’t take the time to have at least a yearly check up with my friendly dentist. Moral of the Story: either get your teeth cleaned twice or at least once a year, or don’t bother at all, because you’re already dead.

Nice story! Very well told. Glad it didn't happen to me (although I once had to have seven cavities fixed).
