The Wood Between the Worlds

Well this summer vacation has flown by. It’s weird to think that it’s almost over. Well not quite for me. But Ruth, Mary and Paul start The Faith Academy on August 1st. Heh, first days back are always so fun. Weird how I won’t be experiencing that while I’m doing online courses. But it also takes a lot of the social pressures away. The smiles and the worrying about what I will wear etc.

Nothing too eventful has taken place since that ill-fated weekend of Wimbledon and World Cup Finals. I did however, go to Subic with my family for a late vacation before Faith starts up again. It’s sad to see Subic get more and more run down with each passing year. But it also makes me proud that it has lasted this long as well. It was built as strong and as sturdy, not to mention as extremely efficiently, as only the good old US Navy can make it. It’s weird to think that it was once full of US soldiers and their families. It always seems to make it look like the ghost of some mini America, some civilization long passed away with only rotting remains to prove it once existed at all. *sigh*

On another note however, Superman Returns is an excellent soundtrack. I just now decided to listen to it and it’s quite good. John Williams has done it again. And what’s really nice is that you can listen to the whole score online for free. Think of that…next time you go online you can listen to Superman Returns as background music! So nice and relaxing...DO IT, or at least listen to the first movement.

And my little nieces and nephews, of which I now have three (from front to back and youngest to oldest: Felicia, Debbie, David), are way too cute. left

The Spaniard, the Frenchman, The Bagel

Last Sunday I witnessed two shocking incidents. The first one being that Rafa Nadal lost Wimbledon to Roger Federer, someone whom I’m desperately trying to hate but can’t due to his charming smile and personality.

Nadal frusterated with himself:

And the second incident was that Zidane totally lost control and head butted a guy 110 minutes into the world cup final and probably lost the game for France. It’s insane and I had a very messed up night because of it. I haven’t had the best sleeping habits primarily due to the late hours the Wimbledon matches were on TV. And due to not sleeping well plus the two upsets I’ve been in a strange state of zombie-ness…yes it’s a word.

But despite these horrible facts, I made the most delicious bagels today. I’ve never made bagels before and these weren’t quite like the ones you buy in the store but they were close. In no time at all I’m going to have my own bakery and be filthy rich..moohahah.
